Quick Start

1. Sign up here
2. Enter your email address, a password AND your chess.com username.
3. Pay a $1 annual fee, so we can keep the lights on.
4. After that you can create your first chess ladder.
5. Email the invite link to your friends.
6. Once they have joined the ladder, log back in to start the ladder!
7. The ladder will update the rankings whenever you play against someone on chess.com.

Types of Ladder

There are two scoring methods and two different ways of setting ranks.

Scoring Methods

1. Standard: If the winner is lower-ranked on the ladder, they will go one place above their opponent.
2. Points-based: Points are awarded for a win, loss and draw. Rankings are based on points accumulated.

Initial Ranking Methods

1. Random assignment: As the name suggests. When the ladder owner starts the ladder, player's ladder rank is assigned randomly
2. Rating Based: We rank based on daily rating, in ascending order, so low-rated players get a higher initial ranking.
